Photographs must speak for themselves or they are not strong enough; talk less and shoot more.”- Peter Jamus

Why do people take/make photographs?

People take photos to capture the important moments of their life, they want to be able to have a look at the photos in future and remember by  that happy and positive moments of their life.

However others are taking photographs to give a message to people without saying a single word.

Why is photography important ?

In my opinion, photography is important because we can ‘safe’ the images of us, and our parents and grandparents for the next generations to see how their family members were looking and behaving like. I also think that photography may have a massive impact on people, sometimes a very well done picture is better than the 3 pages article.

What skills do you need to be a good photographer ?

Personally, I think that making a photo looking clear, well lighted and balanced is just a 20% of the success. You have to be able to express the feelings and the beauty of the subject you are photographing- theoretically many would think that it’s easy, however, in practise it’s incredibly difficult to learn this skill.

How many different kinds of photography can you think of ?

There’s a lot of different kinds of photography, from a tiny microscopic photography to a massive, architectural. Moreover, saying the exact number of different kinds of photography is not possible in my opinion because people are still making the new kinds of photography, any idea may become a new kind of photography.

How does photography helps us see the world ?

Photography helps us see the world because it may remind us in a sad moments how many wonderful things we’ve done. Moreover, one single picture instead of a huge article may make us aware of what is happening around the world.

Can photographic images be trusted ?

On one hand, we can trust the images we or trustworthy photographer took, because we know those images are real and showing the facts. However, photographers can easily manipulate their images, nowadays they can change literally everything in their photographic images.

What are similarities and differences between photography and other types of visual art ?

One of the main differences between photography and other types of visual art is the fact that the photography is most realistic type of art, it shows the things and people in the most detailed and exact way. However, both- photography and other types of art are ‘transferring’ the feelings to the audience which the creator wanted to show.

When would it be not OK to take a photograph ?

Personally, I think that every photographer- good or bad, should respect the people and places he’s photographing. If the photo is not agreed by someone or it’s not right to take photo of because of believes or morality, the photographer should leave it.

How do you know when you’ve made a good photograph ?

You know when you have made a good photograph when you are positively surprised by it and impressed by its quality. Moreover, the photo is good when it’s looking like you imagined in your head and it express the feelings you had when you took it.

Are photographers also artists ?

In my opinion, I think that photographers are artists, but not all of them. I think that in order to call yourself an artist you need to have a higher technical skills and clear vision of what you want to make.

Where is the best place to see photographs ?

Nowadays, photographs are almost everywhere- on internet, TV, newspapers. However, the best quality photographs can be found on the specific websites, where artists are sharing their work, moreover things like art museums are the best places to find the best quality photographs.

What kind of photography interest you most ?

Personally, my favourite kind of photography is architectural photography because it shows the massiveness and how complicated the buildings are and also because there’s lots of important aspects which you need to be careful of, when taking the good quality photo of a building.

What confuses or frustrates you about photography ?

I think that for many, confusing thing is to set up the correct camera settings if you want to take a picture manually; there’s a lot of different options which need to be set correctly. Frustrating thing may be also trying to take a perfect picture- just how I imagined in my head, there’s a lot of aspects which have to be perfect; lighting, tone, composition, perspective etc…
